The pupose of the study is to determine the representation of Tenses ( T)and aspects (A)in Kipemba, together with their morphophonemic environment, and to compare it with the the situation in standard Swahili (SS). This was done through the specific objectives which were to identify the T and A elements in kipemba, to describe the morphophonemic environment of T and A markers in kipemba and SS and to compare and contrast the representation of T and A in kipemba and in SS. This study was guided by ‘Guillaumean Cognitive Approach’. The outlook of T and A in this approach is based on the movement of mind forward ( ascending) in imagination – which stands for unactualized time future time; and backwards (descending) in memory – which stands for past time. Therefore regardless of their morphological exponence, tenses and aspects have certain common sematic language. The study finds out that, with regard to tenses dialects except for the future tense, differ on the representation of affirmative from for present, past and near past. As for their negative counterparts, except for past tense. The two dialects have similar representation for present, near past and future. On the other hand, SS and Kipemba have similar presentation for habitual but different representation for progressive and perfect aspects. The study recommends that more researches should be conducted on the T and A across Swahili dialects in order to see their point of convergence and divergence.en_US
