Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) play significant position in international development and have become a key player in social and economic development in Tanzania. This dissertation focuses on assessing the influence of NGOs accountability in attracting donor funds in Tanzania. In specific the study aimed to establish the relationship between independent variables which are NGOs leadership, internal control system, transparency, financial management systems, and dependent variable which is attraction of donor funds in three organizations Hakielimu, PASADA and TACOSODE. The empirical data and theories related to the subject were reviewed; these include stakeholders and principle agent theories. Structured questionnaire was applied to collect the primary data from a sample size of 60 participants. Random sampling techniques was used while selecting respondents to constitute a sample from three NGO, namely TACOSODE, PASADA and Hakielimu. Kruskal-Wallis test was conducted to test the independence between sample population and Chi-square goodness of fit test was employed to test whether or not the relationships between variables exist. Findings from research indicate that all study NGOs are practicing accountability in order to attract donor funds due to the fact that they have well constituted leaders, good internal system control, they are transparent and they manage well their financials. Due to these results, recommendation was made to policy makers, academicians and area for further studies was also identified. Most importantly it was recommended that similar research should be carried out to small NGOs so as to see if whether the results will replicate the study findings.en_US
