| dc.description.abstract | This study assessed the performance of public, private and, public-private sectors partnership in domestic solid waste management in Temeke Municipality, Dar es Salaam city, Tanzania. The objectives of the study were to determine the levels of performance of the public sector, private sector and public-private sectors approaches to municipal solid waste management and to document the factors which hindered the efficient functioning of the partnership of municipal councils and the private sector in managing domestic solid wastes in Temeke Municipality, Dar es Salaam city. Random sampling techniques were used to select three wards, seven streets and 105 households for the study. The research instruments included interviews, questionnaires and field observations to collect relevant data for the study. The findings of the study show that the public-private sectors partnership was a superior option in municipal solid waste management compared to either the public sector or the private sector alone. The study recommended that the factors that hindered the efficient performance of this partnership should be addressed. | en_US |
