The main objective of this study was to examine effects of network relationship on performance in the telecommunication companies with focus on Airtel Tanzania Limited. The study was descriptive, which employed both quantitative and qualitative research approaches. A total of 164 respondents who were members in Airtel channels of distribution were selected for the study. They comprised RDCs and MRDCs, dealers, general distributors, retailers and Airtel senior officials. Questionnaires, documentary review and interviews were main data collection methods used. Results from the study revealed that Airtel had ineffective criteria for the selection of channel members, a fact that led to sub-standard performing members. Secondly, it was found out that there was lack of effective communication between Airtel departments that are in chain of product movements including sales, finance and supply chain. For all departments responded differently on the question of standard time to deliver product to intermediate partners. Such an ineffective internal communication had direct impacts to communication with channel members on essential policies and competitive-based strategies. Thirdly, Airtel is required to revise its policies and strategies so as to improve performance on channel members. The measures would lead to overall company’s performance. Policies and strategies may include training, financial support, performance-based incentives, product distribution support and retailers’ support.en_US
