dc.description.abstractThe study was done is Morogoro municipality and eighty respondents participated. The purpose of the study was to examine school community involvement in overcoming primary school girls pregnancies, specific objectives were for examine the problem of primary schools girl’s pregnancies. Analyze challenges encountered by school community and effectiveness measures taken by the community to combat pregnancies among primary school pupils were underpinned by legal and policy implications concerning the problem. Cross sectional research design and qualitative research paradigm were employed research methods such as interviews. Focus group discussions (FGD) and documentary analysis were involved during data collection and collected data were analyzed based on the reach objectives. Findings indicated that the school community was actively involved in overcoming the primary school girls pregnancies through routine monthly check of girls pregnancies expulsion of girls from studies after getting pregnancies, conducting meetings with parents and children, use of religions leaders in preaching gods words into which playing sex before marriage is a sin and taking before court of law those who impregnate school girls. Findings, indicated that the school community faced the following challenges parents passive cooperation pregnant girls refusal to appear to court, cases to take long time and pressure from the community to allow pregnant girls to proceed with studies. Findings also indicated that although there was a legal and policy in dealing with primary school pregnancies, they are not always in practice and need to be innovated. Recommendation put forward include: provision of family life education child care to be the responsibility of the community not for parents only, the government to put in place a comprehensive legislation concerning the protection of a pregnant school girl, a study on corruption to be done.en_US
