The study examined the procedures, benefits, threats and opportunities of implementation of the EA Customs Union for Tanzania. The EA Customs Union is the first phase of the established East African Community. This study aimed at examining whether the procedures used to re establish this regional component were participatory. It was expected that participatory procedures of the reestablishment of the East African Community would further lead the researcher to examine benefits accruing from the EA Customs Union, examine the challenges, threats, problem faced by and opportunities available to Tanzania in EA Customs Union.A case study using qualitative and quantitative approaches was used. Data collection and analysis was done at three levels namely: Government Ministries and Institutes, business persons, and researchers, academicians, professionals, political parties and Non-Governmental organizations, to capture and analyze people's perception on benefits challenges, threats and opportunities of the EA Customs Union. The results evidenced that despite the fact that people were pleased with the procedures of re-establishment of EAC and its Customs Union for the prosperity of Tanzanians, there were threats, challenges and problems in EA Customs Union. It was recommended that Tanzania should create rapid growth of exports opportunities at regional level.en_US
