dc.description.abstract | The convening of the United Nations Desertification Conference is a historic event. It is a unique opportunity to attain through collective efforts, a time-phased, multidimensional strategy for combating desertification a process which is affecting two-thirds of the Nations of the world. The convening of this conference with years of preparatory activities preceding it has highlighted one cardinal fact that in spite of limitations in human, material, technological and financial resources, it is possible for the nations to resolve the problem before them, given the essential ingredient of collective awareness, imagination and political will. | en_US |
