This study aimed at examining factors affecting implementation of infrastructure related projects in Tanzania. The study was motivated by the fact that there had not been any in-depth analysis of the factors that influence effective implementation infrastructure related PPP projects in Tanzania. The first stage of the study involved semi-structured interviews that were conducted with industry experts so as to obtain the qualitative aspects of the problem under the study. This was followed by surveying employees in the relevant institutions through a structured questionnaire in order to collect hard and reliable data that was used to either confirm or nullify social constructs emanating from the qualitative research process. Purposive sampling procedure was used to select a sample from which inference were made. Data were analyzed using Content Analysis method with the aid of a Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). The study found out that a competitive procurement process, a well-organized private sector, the ability of competent personnel and the presence of a stable and effective legislative and regulatory framework are the most important cross-cutting factors that are likely to influence the effective implementation of PPPs in infrastructure related projects. The study recommends to PPP stakeholders to ensure that the regulatory framework is further improved and relaxed to allow more participation of local partners, the financial market is stimulated so as it becomes vibrant and active in financing PPPs and personnel involved in PPPs possess the required knowledge and skills necessary for effective implementation of infrastructure PPP projectsen_US
