The Human Resources Management (HRM) of organisations is changing rapidly, reacting to a changing social and organizational environment and rapidly evolving information technologies (IT). The purpose of the study was to examine the possible benefits, which might be gained by work organisations by investigating the relationship between the use of IT and its impact in HRM functions. A case study approach was used. 150 employees of Plan International Tanzania were sampled and 53.33% responded. Data were analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS). It was found out that the IT may significantly: reduce manual and paper based processes; increase processing speed and efficiency; and increasing the accuracy of management information system and reports. The study revealed a significant relationship between the application of IT and recruitment; and communication. Word processing is the most commonly used software on HRM functions. Inadequate knowledge about HRM software, inadequate funds for hardware and training were identified as major challenges and problems hindering effective implementation of IT on HRM. Employees' involvement and training were revealed as critical factor for success and stakeholders' major roles for successful computerization of HRM functions.en_US
