It was also felt that a reconnaissance trip would provide basic information from which realistic financial estimates and proper research techniques would be based. A reconnaissance team of four scientists consisting of Dr. P.P. Banyikwa (Plant Ecologist and Consultant, University group), Mr. I.S. Kikula (Plant Ecologist), Miss S. Mohamed (Soil Scientist) and Mr, W. Rugumamu (Pedologist), visited the HADO project area in Kondoa district from 26th to 29th September 1978.
