Specifically the study examined the status of accommodation facility, challenges facing girls with no accommodation facility and contribution of accommodation facility in promoting girls’ education in Njombe ward secondary schools. Conceptual framework gave an overview on the contribution of accommodation facility in promoting girls education such as promoting good performance, providing protection and security. The study was conducted in three districts which are Njombe rural, Makambako and Wanging’ombe. From each district two schools were selected making a total of six schools. The sample of the study involved seventy eight respondents that were obtained through purposive, stratified, random and convenience sampling techniques, the study employed mixed methods approach which combines both qualitative and quantitative approaches within a single research with the use of questionnaires, interviews, focus group discussion, observation and documentary review as data collection tools. The study used the concurrent embedded research design to explore the contribution of accommodation facility to girls in Njombe where qualitative and quantitative data were collected and analyzed simultaneously. The findings revealed that accommodation facilities in ward secondary schools promote girls’ education despite different challenges that students are facing in those hostels where they are living. The study established that accommodation for girl students in ward secondary schools contributed to security and protection of girl students, improvement in academic performance, receded girls from domestic chores, provided enough study time, provided good learning environment, reduced pregnancy cases and promoted language socialization skills among girls. Also the study revealed the challenges to girls with no accommodation includes sexual harassment, walking long distance to school, limited study time, poor academic performance and involvement in domestic chores. The study recommends that there should be devise strategies for improvement of schools physical facilities such as dormitories, classes, laboratories, toilets and bathrooms among education stakeholders. The provision of these facilities will assist in improving academic performance of the boarding girl students. Heads of schools should emphasize on the provision of adequate dormitory facilities such as bathroom, toilets, water, and lighting and should strive to improve the school diet through mobilization of communities to participate in contributing to those facilities. In promoting girls education with regard to provision accommodation facility in ward secondary schools, the government should subsidize meals and other accommodation costs in secondary schools located in remote areas where most of students walk long distance to school.
