It also investigated the utilization of local professionals in data and database management. It was found that there are just few organizations that apply database management up to the moment. Banking systems and insurance, telecommunication companies and some of the higher learning institution are some of good example of database users. In those that there are many local professionals that are used to administer the present database systems but in designing process foreigners were employed temporally to work with local staff, and then hand over the operating system to the local staff when complete. Also, the study observed that some organizations were still reluctant to use database systems in their operations and administrative functions. This was because of expenses in designing and running a database. From the observations, there few organizations that are implementing database now. Therefore, efforts have to be made to improve the capacity of local professional. This will enhance the development of the field and avoid being dependants to the foreign technologiesenDatabase systemsDesignApplicationDesign and application of database systems in TanzaniaThesis
