Specifically the study assessed the extent to which owners related characteristics influence financial management practices in the Micro and Small Enterprises, the extent to which enterprise related characteristics influence financial management practices in the Micro and Small Enterprises and the extent to which interventions influence financial management performance of Micro and Small Enterprises. To achieve the study objectives, the study utilized quantitative approach using survey design. In this survey design data was collected using questionnaire from 150 owners and managers of Micro and Small business. The data collected was analysed using regression analysis. The study found out that both owner’s characteristics, external intervention and enterprises characteristics have effects on effective financial management of the business.
