The study employed three specific objectives which are: examining the curriculum content of entrepreneurship programme in Vocational Education and Training; assessing the role of entrepreneurship programme in facilitating self-employment to the trainees; and identifying challenges facing entrepreneurship training in Vocational Education and Training. The study adopted a qualitative research approach where a single case study design was employed. A total of 50 participants were selected through purposive sampling and snowball technique. Data collection techniques included: interview, documentary review as well as observation. Data were analyzed using content analysis technique. Findings show that entrepreneurship education in vocational training is the best strategy to reduce un employment in Tanzania as results show that it is easy for a youth who possesses both vocational training and entrepreneurship training to get employed comparing to those who possess only technical skills without extra knowledge on how they can use their skills to do a business. Also, it was observed that there is a great difference between those graduates who acquired entrepreneurship training and those who missed it. This programme plays a great role towards student self-employment, group formation, financial seeking as well as better performance in the working places. Also the programme helped to reduce the problem of unemployment among the graduates as many of them become job creators instead of job seekers. However, there are some challenges which face entrepreneurship training including lack of entrepreneurial trainers, lack of training equipment as trainings become more theoretical than practical, poor organization and mobilization of trainees after graduating. The study recommends that the government should make sure that entrepreneurial education is provided from primary to tertiary levels of education, vocational training centers are increased and its vocation education should be provided free of charge.enVocational educationSelf employedEnterprenueshipKilimanjaro regionTanzaniaThe role of vocational education and trainig programmes in promoting self - employment among youth: a cae of Moshi entrepreneurship programme in Kilimanjaro regionThesis
