Abstract
The aim of this study was to use strategic management technique to identify the challenges facing diesel injection service centres in Tanzania such that when addressed improve service delivery offered by injection pumps and injection nozzles centres. The study included 13 diesel service centres in Dar es Salaam. The data collection methods used interview, and about 26 offered face to face interviews, while 13 were interviewed by telephone. Findings of the study revealed that challenges facing diesel service centres includes the failure to offer good service due to, lack of modern test facilities as well as, diagnosis tools, unskilled manpower, lack of capital, low education background of owners and lack of management strategies. The research revealed also that the other problems facing diesel service centres includes the ability to deploy modern injection machines due to high cost of the injection machines, lack of access to finance and high interest rates. These challenges should be noted as a gap in the diesel injection service centres to operate in the modern diesel injection technology. It is therefore recommended that diesel service centres owners should consider entering into partnerships with international companies, in order to access technology and employ skilled technicians preferably with electro mechanical knowledge.
