Hiving comprehensive water production and water service delivery systems are a prerequisite to a better and reliable water service delivery. Thus this study in general terms aimed to assess the performance of CHALIWASA in water service delivery in Chalinze district specifically by first determining the CHALIWASA water production and supply capacity per day against the community's demand per day. Second, identifying the billing system and the customers' ability to pay for water services and finally assessing the perception of the community on the performance of CHALIWASA in water service delivery in its water service supply jurisdiction. Hence this study documents the effectiveness, efficiency, relevance, impact and sustainability of water service delivery by CHALIWASA. The study used a mixed approach methodology. A sample size of 96 respondents was involved. Data collected was analysed by Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) software. The results of the study reveal that, CHALIWASA has the production capacity of 7200m3/day and supply capacity of 6286m3/day . However, more alarmingly the study reveals that the water demand by the population in the service area is 13,294m3/day which is almost twice than its production capacity on a day and exactly twice the amount it supplies per day. So, only 50% of the estimated water demand is met by the authority. Interestingly, 80% of respondents argued that users of water get quality services from CHALIWASA. Likewise, 85% of respondents argued that CHALIWASA infrastructures distribute water not on regular hours ranging from s to 14 hours of water delivery on a day which is contrary to the international standard of 24hours according to WHO. Thus the study recommends more initiative like increasing water production capacity that meets 13294 m3 daily demands supported by comprehensive and reliable supply networks which is effectively managed.en_US
