The study was aimed at determining the rainfall-runoff model for Kiwira catchment, in attempt to analyze the flood problem. The rainfall-runoff process was modelled by use of operational models. Initially, systems analysis type of models was applied and later conceptual models. It was found out that the conceptual modelling approach gave better results than, assumption of linear, time invariant relationship, of rainfall and discharge over the catchment. From the results of the model performance, it was concluded that the revised soil moisture accounting and routing model is a better model for Kiwira catchment. However, it is envisaged that a physically based model could give good results.en_US
