Abstract
The main goal of the National Energy Policy is to improve the welfare and living standards of Tanzanians. It therefore aims to ensure the availability of reliable and affordable energy supplies, and their use in a rational and sustainable manner. However, there is no direct consistency between the Tanzania Energy Policy and plans relating to national economic planning. For example, although energy is a critical element in the implementation of activities in the agriculture, health, education, water and ICT sectors, none of the policies in these sectors considers the energy required to achieve their objectives. Also there are no clear defined goals and strategies on renewable energy technologies as interventions in the energy policy. Therefore it is of great importance to formulate interventions to Tanzania Energy Policy, which can help on restructuring the current energy policy. In order to meet the mentioned objective, the following methodologies were used: Literature Review and Interviewing using questionnaires to Energy policy players such as; Regulatory level, Operational level, Representative of major consumers. The major aspects contained in the questionnaires addressed knowledge about Energy Policy, barriers, challenges, interventions to policy weakness.
