| dc.description.abstract | To improving overall organizations project performances, there is a need of organizations to conform their project management practices to global accepted standards. The main objective of this research was to assess conformity of local project management practices to best practices. The approaches applied in this research were qualitative, quantitative and descriptive. By simple random sampling, fifty (50) organizations across industries were used as population sample for local organizations. From these organizations, respondents for the survey questionnaire were; project managers, senior managers, projects coordinators and employees with experience in organization projects implementation. Sixty nine (69) percent of the respondents acknowledged the importance of proper application of Project Management 'knowledge' on improving projects performance. Fifty-eight (58) percent of the respondents asserted the need of a self-assessment tool towards improving organizations Project Management practices in Tanzania consequently improving the performance of projects. The research recommends periodic self-assessment of Project Management practices within organizations, establishing centralized project management offices, provision of Project Management training and developing in-house Project Management methodologies fitting the organizations culture towards enhancing management practices on aspects of Project (Scope, Time, Cost and Quality) management. | en_US |
