The effects of long term human activities and the resulting changes in and features on catchment characteristics and yield have been studied. Two catchments with enough data were selected. The data from Morogoro river and Kibungo catchments were ana]yzed using double mass curse, recession curve, unit hydrograph and moments method. Daily rainfall and discharge data from the selected catchments were analyzed for as many years as available and the results for both past and recent years compared. Besides a problem of some unrealistic data, differences in the results based on time factor were noted. It was further concluded that daily rainfall and discharge records alone are not enough for a detail study of catchments and their changes. Studies with short interval data recording are recommended for catchments such as the ones studied.en_US
