President Nyerere, Mama Maria Nyerere and other Dar es Salaam residents attended a requiem mass at Saint Joseph's Cathedral in Dar es Salaam in memory of the late Prime Minister Edward Sokoine who died in accident on April 12, 1984.

President Nyerere and Mama Maria Nyerere were yesterday among hundreds of Tanzanians who attended a requiem mass in memory of the late Prime Minister Edward Sokoine who died in a car accident on April 12,last year. The requiem mass, held at Saint Joseph's Cathedral in Dar es Salaam, was also attended by Minister of state in the Prime Minister's Office, ndugu Anna Makinda and other party and government leaders. The mass was conducted by reverends Stephen Nyolawila and Melito Itariro
