The basic equations governing the water movement in the unsaturated porous media have been described. A numerical solutions for flow equations are developed for one dimensional vertical flow, two dimensional flow and one dimensional absorption. For the one dimensional vertical flow and one dimensional absorption. An implicit finite difference discretization has been adopted. For the two dimensional flow equation, an iterative - implicit finite difference approach is adopted. Appropriate initial, boundary conditions and constitutive relations of soil properties are prescribed. Based on the analysis, the solution of the one dimensional vertical flow using the pressure head-based form of the governing equation, generally, yields poor results on a per mass balance basis.en_US
