dc.description.abstractThis study was carried out to assess performance of Community-based water resource management entities In Simiyu River Catchment. Community-based water resource management entities in Simiyu River catchment face many challenges regarding with their performance. One of the challenges includes lack of documentation to explain their performance. The main objective of this research was to assess the performance of Community-based water resource management entities in Simiyu River catchment. Data collection involved survey of 20 villages in Simiyu River Catchment with 127 respondents. Data collected include exploration of various water resource management factors performed by community-based entities in Simiyu River catchment, extent to which available community-based entities are utilized by water resources management offices at Simiyu River catchment and gap between water resources management and community-based entities in Simiyu River catchment. Water resources management factors performed by community-based entities in Simiyu River catchment were identifies. The results showed that, there were no clear accountability mechanisms and description of responsibilities among worker volunteers working with community-based Water user entities working in water resources management. Moreover, there was inadequate utilization of available Water resource management offices by community-based entities for water resources management in Simiyu River catchment. Also, there was existing gaps between community-based entities and water resources management in Simiyu River catchment. Therefore, it is recommended to enhance accountability of Community-based entities and reporting mechanisms, capacity building, and communication strategies. Also, further researches on Community-based entities are recommended.en_US
