| dc.description.abstract | Much of today’s investment is in ICTs and it is believed that ICT is a key for the organizational sustainability in this era of globalization. The application of project management knowledge during implementation of ICTs projects has been increasing worldwide and has made ICT projects achievable regardless of their complications. This study examined the implementation of ICTs projects in Tanzania so as to look at opportunities of improving performance through the application of best practice of project management. Three main areas were focused, and these include: project management framework, project management knowledge and relationship of project management to other management areas. In performing the study three methods were used to collect data that include three case studies, and 24 institutions filled the questionnaires that helped the study to report the current status. The study established that project management knowledge is hardly used. In particular time and cost performance was unsatisfactory. The study concluded that application of project management knowledge has a significant potential for improvement of ICT project performance. The study recommended that to enhance performance procurement procedures should be transparent and objective. | en_US |
