The essence of this dissertation was to explore the possible ways of using battery free solar photovoltaic refrigerators in Dar es Salaam as an alternative to normal convectional and battery solar PV refrigerators. By taking advantages of solar energy that have been among the renewable energy resources that are presently utilized in various sectors for the assorted purposes effect. Solar photovoltaic system has been useful for refrigeration effect. Solar photovoltaic system has been the method that used to convert solar radiation into direct current electricity. As the world begins to embrace all the positive aspects of photovoltaic and renewable energy, the battery free (direct coupled) solar PV refrigerators have been designed to cover the wide range of operation conditions. This research demonstrate the feasibility of using battery free solar photovoltaic powered refrigerators in Tanzania especially in Dar es Salaam. It included analysis of the site, weather data, statistical views and net present value period available to an individual system that could predict the value of “Direct PV” refrigerators as an economic investment. PVYST software was used to simulate and obtain the potential power from the sun that would be delivered to the end user. Solar data including monthly average and mean temperature used in this research were obtained from Tanzania Meteorological Agency.en_US
