Abstract
Specific management objectives within this zone are to provide an area where visitors are able to enjoy the least developed and most natural areas of the Park. The Wilderness Zone contains portions of the Park that are not utilized to any appreciable extent by tourists due to difficult access, low viewing potential, distance from centres of accommodation, prevalence of tsetse fly and for security reasons Essentially primitive in nature, emphasis will be on maintenance of the natural system No physical development will be allowed, except for that necessarily associated with main access roads, National Park guard posts and special campsites. In this zone visitor use is both permitted and encouraged but management is primarily aimed at maintaining undisturbed nature. Recreational facilities are limited to the provision of special campsites. No formal, graded made-up game viewing tracks (corresponding to class 1 roads(1>) will be constructed by the Park management, with the exception of major access roads into the Park and between Extensive Use zones (e g. Naabi gate to Seronera, Seronera to Lobo, Seronera to Ikoma gate and Lobo to Kogatende). Where required, Park management should construct bridges, drifts and culverts. Off road driving is to be permitted, except in those areas which may be closed off from time to time by the Park management.
