Presents the experience encountered by the University of Dar es Salaam library in computerizing its catalogue using ADLIB software. Shows how the project was managed, the strengths and limitations of the software and the structure of the Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC). Other issues discussed include Retrospective Conversion of the catalogue, staff training, and sustainability of the project. In the course of the discussion, the paper draws some lessons which other libraries intending to computerize their catalogues can learn from the University of Dar es Salaam library experience.en_US
