dc.description.abstractThis dissertation is submitted as part of the requirements for the award of the degree of Master of Medicine (M. Med) of the University of Dar es Salaam. It consists of three parts. The first section consists of ten gynaecological conditions which are commonly encountered in day to day practice. The second part comprises of ten obstetric conditions. Short commentaries are written on one aspect of each condition in both first and second parts. The last part is made up of a research done over a period of 3 months on the socio-demographic attributes among women undergoing surgical sterilization in three referral hospitals in Tanzania. The effect of sterilization on population control in Tanzania is discussed.en_US
