Shortage of electricity in Tanzania creates a huge gap between demand and supply. This forces individuals and organizations to look for alternatives to obtain reliable supply of power. The objective of this study was to provide a framework for enhancement of solar Photovoltaic (PV) Technology adoption in Tanzania. The study was conducted using secondary data from previous projects in different parts in Tanzania. Desk survey of reports, books, journals. Magazines. Papers and relevant published documents was carried out. The data was analyzed by using Microsoft Excel computer software. The analysis of information and data from the project reports shows that there are still challenges on lack of awareness on solar PV technology and non –enforcement of quality standards. However, the big barriers are the high price of solar PV systems and access to finance. In this study, an adoption model for solar PV technology in Tanzania has been developed and tested. Based on the test results, the developed framework is suitable to be used in implementing solar PV projects. The developed model covers an innovative financing framework for dealers and end users to cover-up for the gaps identified during the implementation of the previous solar PV projects, which were dependent on project findings. This study is recommending application of this developed model, which will play a big role overcoming the barriers hindering the adoption of solar PV technology.en_US
