    Management of digital examination records at Muhimbili University of health and allied sciences, Dar es salaam, Tanzania

    This study aimed to examine the management of digital examination records at Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences. Data for this study were collected by using questionnaires, interviews and observation. Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) and MS- Excel were used for analyzing quantitative data while Content Analysis was used to analyze qualitative data.The study found that digital examination records were not effectively used at MUHAS. Findings also revealed a number of problems associated with the management of digital examination records. These included lack of IT skills, lack of appropriate software, inadequate ICT facilities, lack of training, rapid change of technology, lack of ICT policy and high cost of data storage devises. To improve the management of digital examination records the following were suggested by the respondents: Training of digital records management to staff, purchasing of up- to - date hardware and software, establishing ICT policy and increasing the budget of the ICT department. This study recommends the conversion of the available examination records that are in paper (manual) format into digital format, provide training programmes to its staff, install data security software in all offices that deal with examination records and create records keeping manual for examination records staff.
