    A dissertation of ten surgical conditions

    The dissertation consists of ten case studies which have been divided into three parts. Parts. Part one consists of six cases pertaining to general surgery. Part two consists of two cases in Urology and part three of two cases in Orthopaedics. All the cases have been studied during the three years of the course. In each subject there is a detailed case report of one patient followed by a review of the characteristic features of the remaining patients in the study and finally a reviewed of the literature on the subject. In part one the six cases presented are: (a) Twelve patients with perforated duodenal ulcer who were treated in surgical I from July 1985 to June 1987. (b) Twenty four patients with acute appendicits who were managed by surgical firm at Muhimbili Medical Centre from June 1984 to July 1987. (c) Nine patients with sigmoid volvulus who were treated in one of the surgical firms between July 1985 and July 1987. (d) Fourteen patients with Kaposis sarcoma who were managed in surgical firm from July 1985 to July 1987. (e) Fourteen patients with carcinoma of the breast who were studied from July 1985 to July 1987. In Part two the two cases presented are: (a) Thirty patients with Benign Prostatic hypertrophy who underwent prostateckomy and who were seen in surgical firm between July, 1985 and July 1987. (b) Seventeen patients with carcinoma of the urinary bladder who were managed in the surgical firm from July 1985 to July 1987. In Part three the two cases presented are: (a) Eleven patients with intracapsular fractures of the neck of femur who were managed in the Orthopaedic and Trauma department during the months of August and November 1987.
