Item The role of job design on employee’s performance in Tanzania: A Case Study of Construction Industry in Dar es Salaam(University of Dar es Salaam,, 2017) Tezura, Zelda MosesThe study examines the role of job design on employee performance in construction industry to determine the extent to which job design contributes to employee performance in construction companies located in Dar es Salaam Region. The study used primary data gathered with the use of a 5-point Likert scale questionnaire format administered to 100 respondents in construction industry. Data analysis was carried out using linear regression analysis which proved the significance of the alternative hypothesis as a result of testing the hypothesis and the data were analyzed using SPSS. The findings revealed that there is a significant relationship between job design and employee performance. However, job specification was proven to have negative relationship while job description and job evaluation have positive relationship with employee’s performance. Furthermore, job evaluation was proved to be the most influencing factor on dependent variable (employee performance) by. The study concluded that if the job is well designed it can facilitate and improve employee performance. The study recommended, among other things, that management should ensure bonus and incentives are fairly provided to motivate employees to perform highly. Employees’ salaries and wages should be carefully handled to reflect standard payment. Management should reward their employee with considerable amount of work done.
