    Fundamentals of planning formal education systems towards successful accommodation of inclusive education in Tanzania

    The study investigated the Fundamentals of Planning Formal Education Systems towards Successful Accommodation of Inclusive Education in Tanzania. It was conducted in Dar es Salaam and Coast regions.. The study involved fifty respondents. It employed a qualitative approach where data collections were effected under interview, observation and documentary review methods. Descriptive design was used for the study conduction; where content analysis method was employed in analyzing data. Findings revealed that most education stakeholders were not aware of inclusive education. Very few schools were selected to pilot inclusive education; where most of them had unfriendly learning environment as well as inadequate resources. Many educational programmes did not address inclusive education. The study concludes that since all children deserve the right to an equal education, and inclusive education gives students with special needs that opportunity, proper planning ahead, preparation and support for both students and the education systems are essential for inclusion to work properly. The study recommended the following: Realistic and successive national wide inclusive advocacy strategy, inclusive policies, and inclusive curriculum are to be prioritized and implemented throughout the education systems. Moreover, Inclusionary practices, like involving all educational stakeholders in educational planning processes as well as inviting them to participate in educational workshops is to be carried out in all schools.
