    (2016) Simbo, Lilian
The main aim of this study was to examine cross generation sex risks among young girls in Temeke Municipal Council, Tanzania. A quantitative research approach was adopted by using a closed ended questionnaire as an instrument for data collection. The study involved a sample of 120 girls aged between 14 and 24 years using snowball-sampling techniques. The findings revealed that participants engaged into cross-generational sex for various reasons including financial support, emotional, motivation and social motivation from their peer groups. As well as they increase the number of sexual partners to accommodate their needs that’s includes sexual needs and desire and prestige of having many partners. This was due to the fact that as early as sexual debut among young girls the more the sexual partners likely to be older partners. In our society this type of relationship is seen as a normal thing among girls. Due to the reasons for engaging into cross generational sex there are risks these young girls get when their in relationship with older partners. Because of lack of power of making decisions in sex, most of the girls end up being pregnant and affected with a deadly disease like HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases. Also due to poor economic conditions and lack of education they end in induced abortion to avoid school drop out which may lead to death or other complications, other risks are rape and assault and violence from men. The findings revealed that intervention sex among young girls due to the lack of seriousness of the programs that are implemented by the government or non government organizations within our societies. Established findings of the study, the major recommendations are for the government to invest in programs or intervention measures that will inspire young girls to changing their sexual behaviour by remaining virgins until they get married and programs which will focus on the risks of early sexual debut and having multiple sexual partners.
