    Managing students' records at the institute of finance management (IFM), Tanzania
    (University of Dar es Salaam, 2015) Shikali, Joyce Chales
    This study examined the current practice of managing students’ records at the Institute of Finance Management (IFM) in Tanzania. The study involved a sample of 68 respondents drawn from staff and students using a case study design that integrated both qualitative and quantitative research approaches. The study collected data through the deployment of questionnaires, face to face interviews and observation. Quantitative data were analyzed with the help of the Statistical Product and Service Solution (SPSS) version sixteen and Microsoft Excel, whereas qualitative data were subjected to content analysis. The findings from this study revealed that the current status of records management practices from the creation to disposition at IFM were found to be inadequate. Lack of records management policy, records inventory, records appraisal, records retention and disposition schedule, disaster management and security control were among the challenges affecting the records management practices at IFM. Hence, the study recommends the digitization of students’ records, improve staff training program, provision of fund and development and implementations of records management policy and other guideline
