People management practices in manufacturing work organisations: a case of Tanzania automotive technology centre (TATC)
(University of Dar es Salaam, 2013) Selemani, Abdallah
Many studies have been conducted in the field of Human Resources Management concerning people management practices in the organization for the aim of creating good conditions in managing the organizations. The aim of the study was to investigate the types of people management practices and the attitude of employees towards the practices in the manufacturing sector. Data were collected using questionnaires sent to the employees in Tanzania Automotive Technology Centre (TATC). A total of 70 useable responses were obtained using non-statistical method and used for the purpose of analysis. The findings indicated that personnel management was the adopted people management practice at TATC. Moreover, the findings revealed that the employees’ attitudes were positively in favour of the adoption of Human Resource Management practice compared with the adopted personnel management. Therefore, this departure of thinking is among the reasons on why TATC is not performing well. The findings of this study can form the basis for usefully recommendations for TATC management in encouraging the practice of Human Resource Management to its employees who are concerned with maintaining competitive advantage for long term organization success.
