    The ecophysiological effects of Water and nutrient stress on sorghum bicolar (L.) Moech. and commelina imberbis hassk

    The effect of the water stress when applied at different growth stages and when interacting with nutrient levels and plant density on the growth, carbohydrate and protein content of sorghum bicolor and Commelina imberbis was studied. The growth of both species was found to be reduced under water stress conditions especially when stress was applied at early stages of growth and also when interacting with low nutrient levels and high plan densities. The carbohydrate content of Sorghum bicolor was found to decrease with increasing water stress while that of Comelina imberbis increased with increasing water stress. On the other hand, the protein content of both species was decreased by water stress. These findings have been discussed at the end of each chapter.
