    Assessment of the effectiveness of corporate community involvement in Tanzanian natural gas industry: a case of Pan African Energy (T) Limited Songo Songo Island Tanzania

    The study was designed toassess the effectiveness of corporate community involvement (CCI) in the Tanzanian Natural Gas Industry. Corporate community involvement by Pan African Energy (T) Ltd (PAT) on the Songo Songo Island in Kilwa district was taken as a case study. Three categories of activities namely education related, health related and community empowerment related were chosen for this study. The main objective was to get community views on the effectiveness of the above activities on the respective community, in this case Songo Songo Island. The study employed quantitative approach. The data were collected through questionnaires. 150 villagers participated in the study. Data were analysed using SPSS through descriptive statistics and regression analysis.The findings reveal that there is positive relationship between corporate community involvement and the three variables; PAT education related activities, PAT health related activities and PAT community empowerment related activities. In addition the findings have shown that effectiveness of corporate community involvement is determined by PAT education related activities, PAT health related activities and PAT community empowerment related activities. The study recommends stakeholders and especially corporate involved in CCI to have a way of determining the effectiveness of their activities not only to themselves in terms of increased sales, bottom line (profits), but also effectiveness
