    Establishing readiness for mobile environmental information communication in Tanzania

    Mobile environmental information communication is needed for raising awareness on environmental issues, understanding environmental problems, making specific environmental information available to particular user groups, providing data for reports and analyses, providing timely environmental information access, orienting decision-making towards solutions and promoting environmental sustainability. This study therefore has the main objective of establishing readiness for Tanzania to employ mobile environmental information communication by exploring factors and infrastructure that influence or enhance mobile environmental information communication as well as determining problems associated with mobile environmental information communication in Tanzania. Literature review, documentary review, questionnaires and observation were done so as find out whether Tanzania is ready or no. It is concluded that Tanzania is not ready to employ mobile environmental information communication. Trainings, supportive policies and the development of environmental on mobile environmental information communication were recommended. Problems associated with mobile environmental information communication are identified. More research on development of prototype model for mobile environmental information communication and applications of mobile environmental information communication are recommended.
