(University of Dar es salaam, 2019) Nkwama, Glads Gehazy
The general objective of the research to examine was to examine the factors influencing the Consumption of Bulk Liquefield Petroleum Gas (LPG) in Tanzania the evidence being ORYX Gas Tanzania LTD. The specific objectives of the study were determine the influence of LPG user accessibility on LPG bulk consumption. The effects of legal requirements on bulk consumptions of LPG and to assess the effects of price on bulk consumption of LGP. The study was descriptive in nature and used the conception theory and the theory of efficiency. Samples of 100 respondents were conveniently selected for the study. The respondents were primary potential customers. In collecting data, the study used both primary and secondary data sources. Data collection instruments were structured questionnaires, and were gathered from selected potential stores. These data were complemented by in-depth interview from 5 key informants. The findings indicate that two variables namely effects of legal requirement of LPG were not significant enough in supporting the consumption of LPG. The study recommends that in order to increase the sale of LPG in Tanzania, there is a need to increase safety awareness among users and effects of legal requirement of LPG as majority of Tanzanian’s are still using wood fuel for cooking although once the government put emphasis on procedures and policies it will demand citizens to use LPG. Once these variables are implemented there will be an increase of bulk consumption of LPG in Tanzania.
