The effect of corporate social responsibility on the performance of Exim bank in Tanzania
(University of Dar es Salaam, 2015) Nchimbi, John
This research sought to answer the effect of Corporate Social Responsibility on the performance of Exim Bank in Tanzania. A total of 100 survey questionnaires were used to collect primary data on CSR strategies banks use to ensure that clients have a positive perception about their company and how the banks’ CSR strategies enhance their performance. Archival documents, newspapers and websites were also used to collect and analyze data. The data was collected from the survey questionnaire and entered into analytical software package of Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS). The research data was analyzed by using Mean, Standard Deviation and Regression Analysis. The findings show CSR strategies undertaken by the company to ensure positive image of the organization scored a mean of 4.18 while CSR strategies to enhance performance scored a mean of 3.87 indicating respondents were in agreement with activities undertaken by a company. Through good image, people have trust in the company which in the long run leads to better performance of the bank. While conducting the research, the study concentrated only on one company, the researcher recommends other studies to involve many companies while conducting research and also focus on CSR activities in public sector. Managers should also put much emphasis on how to communicate CSR activities since companies that communicate CSR activities through various channels have a higher positive CSR perception compared to those that do not use various communication channels
