The causes of employees’ job satisfaction in private sectors: a case of Vodacom Tanzania limited
(University of Dar es Salaam, 2012) Nanyaro, Grace
This study explores the causes of employees’ job satisfaction/ dissatisfaction in Vodacom Tanzania Limited. The samples of 60 employees were interviewed and filled structured questionnaires from various departments of Vodacom Tanzania Limited in Dar es Salaam. This research study uses an exploratory research design. The collected data were analyzed using content analysis since it uses qualitative approach. This is referred as a diagnostic tool of qualitative researchers. The data was analyzed, summarized, and presented in tables. Results show that various aspects influence employees’ satisfaction/dissatisfaction in the work place. The direct monetary compensation (Salary and incentives) are not enough to influence satisfaction rather it was found that other non-monetary compensations such as holidays, medical, leave, education assistance programs are more preferred. It was revealed that salary should not be considered as the major factor to employees’ satisfaction. Again, organizations have to comply with moral values to meet the needs of different groups of people. The daily operation of the organization has to consider the society at large, the environment, customers and the government through which moral values are manifested in paying taxes and obeying the law. Failure to that can lead to job dissatisfaction. This can be achieved when decision made by the management had no direct impact to the welfare of the employees.
