    Determinants of nurses’ behavioral intention to use e-learning in Tanzania

    Tanzania is among the countries with less knowledgeable and skilled health workers like nurses compared to its population. Therefore, to address such challenge, AMREF Health Africa in support with MoHCDGEC has introduced e-Learning mainly for nurses to upgrade their professional skills while they are still at their working place. However, despite its existence use of the e-Learning is still a challenge as only 4.9% of the nurses are using it.Therefore, this study investigated the determinants of nurses’ behavioral intention to use e- Learning in Tanzania through mixed sequential explanatory design by adapting UTAUT2 as a research model and customized it. The customized research model had nine independent factors and one dependent factor, which were all together used to develop a questionnaire, which was taken to the field. The study used a sample of 140 nurses and analysis was done using linear regression analysis.Findings indicated that PE, EE, SI, SM and HM were significant while the four remaining factors H, RFC, TFC and PV were not significant. The qualitative findings also showed that e-Learning helps nurses to access learning materials easily as well as knowledge sharing. Moreover, nurses find e-Learning very usefully since it helps them improve their knowledge and skills in management of issues like complicated deliveries e.tc. Findings of this study will help in identifying key issues to consider when implementing not only e-Learning but also other technologies in health sector through understanding of perception and attitude of health workers upon technology.
