Item The influence of business environment on natural gas investment in Tanzania(University of Dar es Salaam, 2014) Mwaikandage, Ramadhani GregoryThe aim of this study was to investigate the influence of business environment on natural gas investment in Tanzania. The conceptual framework was tested through a survey of 101 respondents from 17 fuel industry residing in Dar es Salaam. Descriptive and inferential analyses were performed using three major factors. The findings reveal that organization culture and structure were found to be influential in decision making on investment in natural gas. In this study, culture was discussed on the basis of recruitment, hierarchy, societal norms, span of control and power distance. Culture was found to be a strong influence on investment decision in Tanzania natural gas industry. Other factors were from external forces on the firm’s perspective. This external force/factor was observed on government related practices. The study reveals that adequate government regulations, infrastructures, politics, and business incentives are strong influential on firm’s investment decision. From the findings of the study, it is recommended that there is a need for gas investment policy to ensure that these attributes are well addressed to create conducive investment decision to the firms.
