    Trade unions and international business firms in Tanzania: the case of Sunda (T) Investment Company Ltd

    This study investigated Trade Unions and International Business Firm. It assessed the essence of Trade Unions in Multi-national Corporations (MNCs). It investigated whether or not employees in MNCs need associate and form Trade Unions in workplaces. It also established whether or not Trade Unions in MNCs meet their members’ expectations, it also evaluated the attitude of management in Multi-national Corporations on Trade Unions. The target population was Multi-National Corporation called Sunda (T) Investment Company Ltd employees. The study used a sample of 80 respondents. The data collection methods were questionnaires, in depth interview and documentary reviews. The findings revealed that the employees of Sunda (T) Investment Company Ltd are aware of the concept of Trade Unions and what it stands as a platform for improving working conditions. Even though the employees are aware of the essence of Trade Union, it has not been formed in the case organization. The study has also revealed that, the management of the Multi-National Corporation posed of an objection on the establishment a branch of Trade Union in their organization. The study recommended that management of Multi-National Corporation should not have a negative attitude towards Trade Unions, rather should support them and realize as means of building a better working relationship.
