Establishment of EMF radiation levels from telecommunication Systems by using field measurements
(University of Dar es Salaam, 2014) Mohamed, Asha J.
The increased use of communication equipment such as mobile phones, base stations, radar equipment, radio and television antenna masts, computers etc, in Tanzania and elsewhere around the world has raised public interest in health issues associated with exposure to electromagnetic radiation. This dissertation presents the study of the EMF field radiation levels from telecommunication systems. The research shows the effective way of measuring EMF radiation by using field measurements. The measurements were done using Narda SRM 3006 equipment. Theoretical model was introduced which will helps designers to predict the radiation field. The dissertation provides an establishment of EMF radiation level from telecommunication systems by using field measurements. In field measurement the results show that the maximum radiation level of 3.21 V/m was found from FM Radio source but all radiation level was below ICNIRP standard limit. Analysis has been done in both field measurements and theoretical calculation to compare these two fields. The results show that, all field measurements are higher compared to theoretical calculations this is due instantaneous conducted field while the theoretical calculation depends on constant parameters. The theoretical/calculated findings can also be adequately used to predict the radiation fields levels if the parameter taken was much accurate.
