    THE INFLUENCE OF STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT ON INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY (ICT) PROJECTS PERFORMANCE AT CRDB BANK PLC, TANZANIA

    Analysis of the completed ICT projects has shown that a significant number of projects exceed the planned time and cost and consequently reducing the benefits. The specific objectives of the present research were first to establish ICT project performance indicators, second to establish the functions of stakeholder management in ICT projects and third to identify the influence of stakeholder management to the performance of ICT projects. The research was conducted based on the core banking system implementation project that was carried out in 2014 at CRDB Bank PLC. A questionnaire survey was conducted to collect data from respondents. A total of 215questionnaires were distributed to two respondent groups, out of which 165 were returned. IBM SPSS was employed for the data analysis process. Descriptive statistics and regression analysis were used to describe the relationship of the variables. The results showed that for the management group (R2) was 0.930 and for other stakeholders group (R2) was 0.987, this indicated that the findings were fit to explain the change in the dependent variable as a result of change in the independent variables. The result further showed that variables; stakeholder mapping, involvement and communication were significant at p-value ≤ 0.000; therefore, indicating that project stakeholder management has positive influence on the performance of ICT projects. The study concludes that performance of ICT project depends on stakeholder management. It is recommended that the bank should improve project stakeholder management process by spending more efforts on the project stakeholder management activities in order to ascertain the performance or outcome of its ICT projects.
