A descriptive design was deployed in undertaking this study. The study adopted a qualitative research approach. A purposive sampling method was used to select participants for the study and a total of 45 participants were involved in the study. The study results indicate high knowledge among PLWHA on HBC services. It was revealed that all groups of participants had positive perception toward home based care services. Furthermore the study revealed a number of core challenges that face home based care providers whereby in one way or another affect effective implementation of HBC programs. Lack of resources for delivering services, and poor financial benefit for HBC providers were the key challenges raised by HBC providers. Based on the findings the study recommends the HBC providers to be included into permanent employment basis for provision of services. Government through the Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children should cooperate with other stakeholders particularly NGOs in funding HBC services so as to make them sustainable. Further studies should be conducted to explore implementation of HBC services particularly in rural areas.
