Factors affecting business continuity plan practice in the government sector A Case of Selected Ministries in Tanzania
(University of Dar es Salaam, 2013) Mbando, Dismas
Despite BCP practice benefits and many government initiatives in investing ICTs, yet government sectors’ ICT action plans are not supportive for successful BCP practice. This research therefore finds out strategic management, business risk analysis and availability of BCP resources whether they contribute to successful BCP practice. A case study was performed to the President’s Office Public Service Management and Ministry of Finance, Economic Affairs both based in Dar es Salaam. The study used literature reviews and questionnaire technique to 100 respondents and data collected were analyzed using regression model. The results show that strategic management and business risk analysis aspects are important variables on successful BCP practice, thus successful BCP practice and availability of BCP resources to be applied require good organization management coupled with policies which can be administered through guidelines, standards and regulations. The model developed could not give full predictive ability on testing successful BCP practice hence further research can be made on other variables such as to determine political engagement and ICTs’ disaster recovery site environmental impact on successful BCP practice. The study concluded that Tanzania has to invest more in appropriate management on resources and enhance legislative and policy frameworks in BCP activities for better performance.
