    Determinants of foreign direct investment (fdi) in Tanzania: a case of tourism sector
    (University of Dar es Salaam, 2015) Mathayo, Neema
    The aim of this study was to investigate the determinants of the foreign direct investment inflows to Tanzania tourism sector. The specific objectives of the study were to examine the extent to which infrastructure, policy framework and perceived country risks relate to FDI in tourism. The population from which the samples were drawn included foreign investors in tourism sector and specifically from Arusha and Dar es Salaam. In depth information were also gathered and Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC) and Bank of Tanzania(BOT). A total of 70 respondents were conveniently sampled. Data were collected through questionnaires, interviews and documentary review. The analysis of primary data was done through the use of Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 20 where frequency, mean and standard deviation were calculated. Findings revealed that infrastructure, policy framework and perceived country risks have significant influence on FDI in tourism. The findings show that policy framework and infrastructure were the lead influencing factor for FDI.The study recommends that, the government should put into place good investment policies and at the same time improve the infrastructures, The study also recommends that the government should maintain political and economical stable environment for the comfortable operation of Foreign Investors.
